Douglas Blausten has over 40 years of experience in the commercial real estate sector as an independent adviser to major corporate clients and as an Executive and Non-Executive Director of publicly quoted real estate companies and public bodies. He has extensive experience of public speaking as a keynote speaker and panellist and has chaired many conferences and lectures.

He strongly believes that operational property assets of companies and businesses can be a major catalyst for change in workplace practices and the provider of added value for shareholders/stakeholders. The projects he has led and worked on over his professional career illustrate these outcomes.

As an innovator and strategist he has a strong track record, having for many years advised companies in the transport, power and energy, pharmaceuticals and environmental services sectors and across the manufacturing and distribution sectors.

For twelve years he was a General Commissioner of Taxes and for two and a half years was Vice Chairman of the £ 3.5 billion NHS Property Services Company and Chairman of its Assets and Investment Committee. He has been a Trustee and Director of the Mental Health Foundation until 2017 and also founded the policy discussion and thought leadership forum, The Cambridge Whitehall Group and subsequently chaired this for three years until September 2017. He is a member of the Cambridge Land Economy Advisory Board and in 2017 was appointed an Hon. Vice-President of the Cambridge University Land Society. He served as a Centre fellow of the Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research for six years. He is a director of and consultant to several property investment companies and to industrial and education businesses in the UK and Germany.


December, 2017: Douglas Blausten chaired a Whitehall Group Meeting with Dr. Charles Tannock, Member of the European Parliament for London. Dr. Tannock led a discussion on the ‘The fast-evolving role of the pro-European wing within the Conservative Party’. This meeting was a continuation of an ongoing series of informed high level discussions on UK/European Policy issues surrounding Brexit he has organised and chaired. Speakers have included the Rt Hon David Liddington, MP; Sir Vince Cable, MP; Lord Hannay and Sir Kevin Tebbit; Stephen Kinnock, MP, Rt Hon Ken Clarke MP and Rt Hon Lord Heseltine.
November, 2017: Sir Tony Brenton, KCMG, Fellow of Wolfson College Cambridge and former British Ambassador to Russia will address the Whitehall Group to discuss Government Foreign policy Subject: “What should we do about Russia”
October, 2017: China and Asian Economics Douglas Blausten organised for Sir Danny Alexander, Vice Chairman of the Asia Investment Bank to address the Whitehall Group on “China and Asian Economics” which was chaired by Colm Lauder of Goodbody and the new Chairman of the Whitehall Group
July, 2017: Knowledgemotion which owns and is developing the world’s largest video clips library for education with over 2 million video clips announced that NVM Private Equity has invested £3m (€3.4m) in the video platform business Knowledgemotion. Douglas Blausten is a member of the Advisory Board.
June, 2017: Douglas Blausten chaired the 7th Whitehall Lecture in Portman Square, London. Prof. Becky Francis, Director of the Institute of Education, University College London. Subject: ‘The role of Academies in UK Education Policy’
