Douglas Blausten has over 40 years of experience in the commercial real estate sector as an independent adviser to major corporate clients and as an Executive and Non-Executive Director of publicly quoted real estate companies and public bodies. He has extensive experience of public speaking as a keynote speaker and panellist and has chaired many conferences and lectures.

He strongly believes that operational property assets of companies and businesses can be a major catalyst for change in workplace practices and the provider of added value for shareholders/stakeholders. The projects he has led and worked on over his professional career illustrate these outcomes.

As an innovator and strategist he has a strong track record, having for many years advised companies in the transport, power and energy, pharmaceuticals and environmental services sectors and across the manufacturing and distribution sectors.

For twelve years he was a General Commissioner of Taxes and for two and a half years was Vice Chairman of the £ 3.5 billion NHS Property Services Company and Chairman of its Assets and Investment Committee. He has been a Trustee and Director of the Mental Health Foundation until 2017 and also founded the policy discussion and thought leadership forum, The Cambridge Whitehall Group and subsequently chaired this for three years until September 2017. He is a member of the Cambridge Land Economy Advisory Board and in 2017 was appointed an Hon. Vice-President of the Cambridge University Land Society. He served as a Centre fellow of the Cambridge Centre for Climate Change Mitigation Research for six years. He is a director of and consultant to several property investment companies and to industrial and education businesses in the UK and Germany.


March, 2017: The Mass Transit Corporation of Hong Kong (MTR)’s UK business appointed Douglas Blausten as their Consultant, Property and Development Planning – Europe, to advise them on corporate development strategies for Over Station Property Development, primarily on the South West Train routes
February, 2017: Douglas Blausten chaired a policy discussion meeting with Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice Chancellor, The University of Buckingham. Subject: ‘The role of the Cabinet Office in British political history’
February, 2017 The sixth Whitehall Lecture: Richard Brown, CBE, DL – Non Executive Director Department of Transport and Network Rail and HS2 (former CEO and Chairman, Eurostar). Subject: ‘UK Transport – are we investing enough to avoid gridlock and meet the capacity challenge?’
January, 2017: Ben Judah, British Journalist and Author. Mr. Judah spoke to the Cambridge Whitehall Group on the 600,000 people living underground, in poverty or in extreme distressed circumstances in London and discussed the alternative economy that exists. Based on his book ‘This is London’ the meeting formed part of the series of discussion the group has held on Social Mobility problems and policy issues in the UK.
The European Union Douglas Blausten chaired a series of pre and post Referendum discussions on Britain and the EU during 2016. Bronwen Maddox, Editor and Chief Executive, Prospect Magazine gave a talk on ‘Will Britain stay in the European Union?’, followed by The Rt. Hon. Lord of Howard of Lympne CH QC on the ‘The current political situation’ in the UK. Simon Walker, Director General, Institute of Directors gave a paper on ‘Where is the nuance in the European Referendum debate?’ and the Rt. Hon. Stephen Kinnock MP, gave an overview of the poltical situation just prior to the EU Referendum as did the Rt. Hon. David Lidington MP, Minister of State for Europe and Nato. The CWG published an Occasional Paper.
